Nasal Spray
Nasal sprays are used for the nose or nasal delivery of a saline solution, drug or combination of drugs, usually to alleviate cold or allergy symptoms such as nasal congestion. Although the delivery methods vary, most nasal sprays function by instilling a fine mist into the nostril or nasal passages by action of a hand-operated pump mechanism or aerosol spray.
Unmedicated Nasal Sprays
Salt water or saline sprays are also very common and usually have no added sinus medications. A fine mist of saline solution is delivered to help moisturize dry or irritated nostrils. Nasal Irrigation
It's reported that some nasal salves have been shown to improve respiratory discomfort caused by the increased dryness of air in pressurized air flight and some air conditioned offices (sick building syndrome), but i haven't been able to check this out. it's also reported that they have been shown to reduce susceptibility to various flight related respiratory infections.
It's becoming increasingly common for a sinus doctor to recommend nasal irrigation with saline solution, Nasaline or the Neti Pot as an alternative treatment or the only treatment and rarely combined treatment.
